About the project

The Oura wellness ring has become one of the most interesting and discussed innovations in the health tech industry. The device’s sophisticated design combined with highly advanced technology has resulted in numerous devoted users around the world.

Oura’s goal is to provide their users benefits, knowledge and understanding that no other wearable is able to offer. Achieving this goal requires even more profound understanding of current and future customer needs - both conscious and unconscious. This understanding should be a part of everything the company does.

Oura has a strong vision about customer-oriented strategy but our help was needed to get the information for the use of Oura’s team as effectively and flexibly as possible. Together with Oura’s team, our analytics and behavioral sciences professionals deepened Oura’s customer- and data-oriented strategy, as well as planned an effective data architecture and concrete steps for implementation. A deep knowledge about customers and their thoughts is the basis for everything.

About the project

"Bitfactor helped us create a customer insight strategy with a concrete implementation plan. We were really pleased with their keen understanding of the health and wearables industry, customer needs, and business in general. The people at Bitfactor are true experts when it comes to combining data analytics, big data architecture and behavioural science in product development and customer understanding. What is more, their expertise was not only visible on a higher strategic level, but it also resulted in an actionable and easy to follow implementation plan."

Our way of working

Creating strategies and guidelines for a company is a painstaking task. Often, it only results in a pile of paper that has nothing to do with practical implementation. The people behind the strategy may not have enough information about the industry or about the day-to-day work of the employees. The whole plan then becomes abstract and unrealistic. For us, it was essential to create a practical and viable strategy and infrastructure that help Oura and its partners develop further.

We gathered a team of people with years of experience of working with analytics and business intelligence in Oura’s industry. We also had a behavioral scientist in the team. We planned Oura’s next steps towards market leadership by combining Oura’s and Bitfactor’s expertise.

Our way of working

Playing to win

We started the project by clarifying Oura’s own long and short term goals. Oura’s goal is to encourage users to become the best versions of themselves by utilizing the information from their product. That, along with other objectives, was the basis for all the next steps.

Playing to win
From aspirations to decisions

From aspirations to decisions

Based on Oura’s customer segments and competitor analysis we determined the essential questions to be answered and the long and short term decisions to be made in order to reach their goals. What is Oura’s playing field geographically and in terms of service portfolio? What kind of know-how, systems and organisational structure is required? How will customer loyalty be measured?

Hands-on approach

One of the most important goals in the project was that the strategy would be easy to implement for Oura and its partners. We carefully planned the next concrete steps in order to ensure an effective start. Oura’s team was very pleased with the plan and wanted Bitfactor’s professionals to be involved in the implementation as well. We will continue towards an even better customer experience together.
